Price and suction barely track each other in the robot vacuum market. Across the 49 models we track from five brands, the single most powerful unit is not the most expensive one, and the widest price band is not the widest performance band. This page shows the actual distribution rather than a shortlist.
What this page is: a count of published specifications across our catalogue, not a laboratory test. Suction figures are the manufacturer's own stated numbers, not measurements we took. Where a model does not publish a figure it is excluded from that column, and the exclusion is stated.
What does each price band actually buy?
The market clusters hard between $300 and $700, where 29 of 49 models sit. That is also where the widest spread in stated suction appears: the $300–$500 band spans 8,000 to 25,000 Pa, a threefold difference at the same price.
| Price band | Models | Brands | Stated suction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under $200 | 3 | 3 | 8,000 Pa (all three) |
| $200–$300 | 4 | 2 | 10,000–20,000 Pa |
| $300–$500 | 17 | 4 | 8,000–25,000 Pa |
| $500–$700 | 12 | 4 | 10,000–40,000 Pa |
| $700–$1,000 | 7 | 4 | 19,500–30,000 Pa |
| Over $1,000 | 6 | 3 | 20,000–36,000 Pa |
Two things follow from the table. First, spending more does buy more suction in the aggregate — the top band starts at 20,000 Pa while the bottom is flat at 8,000. Second, the relationship is far too loose to shop by price alone: a $699 model can out-spec a $1,615 one.
Does a higher price mean more suction?
No. The most powerful model we track is the ECOVACS DEEBOT T90 MAX Plus at 40,000 Pa for about $700. The most expensive model we track is the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete at about $1,615, with a stated 35,000 Pa.
That is 14% less suction for 57% more money. It is not an argument that the Dreame is bad — it bundles a fuller dock, more accessories, and different mopping hardware. It is an argument that suction alone cannot justify a price difference of this size, and that a shopper comparing on the number printed on the box is comparing the wrong thing.
Which models give the most suction per dollar?
Ranking the catalogue by stated suction divided by price produces a different shortlist from ranking by score or by tier:
| Model | Stated suction | Price | Pa per $ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dreame D20 Air Plus | 20,000 Pa | about $240 | 83.3 |
| Yeedi M12 MAX Plus | 25,000 Pa | about $400 | 62.5 |
| ECOVACS DEEBOT T90 MAX Plus | 40,000 Pa | about $700 | 57.1 |
| Dreame D30 Ultra | 25,000 Pa | about $450 | 55.6 |
| ECOVACS DEEBOT T90 PRO Omni | 30,000 Pa | about $549 | 54.6 |
The cheapest entry on this list is roughly three times as efficient per dollar as the flagship tier. That ratio only measures one specification, so it is not a buying recommendation on its own — navigation, brush design, and dock automation cost money and do not appear in a Pa figure. Use it to see where the money goes, then check the review for the parts a number cannot show.
How do the five brands differ on price?
Brand positioning, by median price across every model we track:
| Brand | Models tracked | Price range | Median price | Highest stated suction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yeedi | 8 | about $200–$800 | about $449 | 25,000 Pa |
| Eufy | 7 | about $170–$1,600 | about $499 | 30,000 Pa |
| Roborock | 12 | about $160–$1,600 | about $524 | 36,000 Pa |
| Dreame | 17 | about $240–$1,615 | about $569 | 35,000 Pa |
| ECOVACS | 5 | $549–$710 | about $699 | 40,000 Pa |
ECOVACS is the narrowest lineup we track — five models inside a $161 spread — and also the one holding the highest stated suction. Dreame covers the widest range and the most models. Yeedi enters lowest on median price. Those are catalogue facts, not quality verdicts; a smaller lineup is not worse, it is simply fewer choices to compare.
Are robot vacuums usually discounted?
28 of the 49 models we track show a current price below a stated previous price. Across those, the median discount is 20% below the listed "was" price, and the largest is the Roborock Qrevo CurvX at about 47% off.
Two caveats worth stating. A "was" price is only as trustworthy as the retailer's own record — it is not an independent valuation, and we do not verify that the higher figure was ever charged for a sustained period. And a 20% median discount means the price you see on any given day is unlikely to be the ceiling; if a model is not discounted today, waiting usually changes that. Check the live price rather than treating any figure on this page as current.

Frequently asked questions
Is a more expensive robot vacuum always more powerful?
No. In the 49 models we track, the most expensive unit states 35,000 Pa while a model costing less than half that states 40,000 Pa. Price buys dock automation, build, accessories, and mopping hardware as much as raw suction.
How many Pa do I need?
Every model we track states at least 8,000 Pa, and a third of the catalogue sits above 20,000 Pa. Since suction is a manufacturer figure rather than a measured result, treat it as a rough tier marker, not a precise capability score.
Why is the $300–$500 band so crowded?
It holds 17 of 49 models across four brands, which makes it the most competitive and the hardest to choose within. The band also spans a stated-suction range from 8,000 to 25,000 Pa — a little over three times the figure at the same price — so the price tells you almost nothing about what is inside.
Do prices on this page change?
Yes. Prices move constantly and the figures here are a snapshot of the catalogue at the time of the last build. Always confirm the live price on the retailer page before deciding.
What if a model does not publish a suction figure?
It is left out of the suction columns. Thirteen of the 49 models do not state a Pa value in the listing we track, and we do not estimate one for them.
