FAQ

Robot Vacuums questions, answered

Which robot vacuums are worth buying?
All 49 models we track are scored against the same published rubric so you can compare them directly. Our highest-scoring model is the Roborock Saros 20 at 9.5/10, and the cheapest entry point is the Roborock Q7 L5 at $159.99. Use the brand hubs and use-case shortlists above to narrow down.
Should I buy a robot vacuum or a robot vacuum and mop combo?
Buy a combo if your home is mostly sealed hard floor and you want one machine for both jobs. Buy vacuum-only if you have thick carpet or shedding pets, because at the same price you get more pickup power instead of water tanks and mop pads. Mopping combos will not replace a deep manual scrub on stuck-on marks.
How often do robot vacuums need maintenance?
Plan on emptying the bin or dock bag weekly, rinsing mop pads after use if the dock does not wash them, clearing the brush roll of hair every few weeks, and replacing filters on the manufacturer's schedule. Dock automation reduces your weekly work, not the underlying maintenance.
Do I need Wi-Fi and an app for a robot vacuum?
Not always. Budget models often run on a remote and a fixed schedule without an app. An app is worth it if you want room-by-room cleaning, no-go zones, multi-floor maps, or scheduling — features that matter more in larger or more complex homes.
